Fall: Season of the Dogs

When the weather starts gettings colder, dog owners start getting excited. Now the parks are ours! Rare is the jogger or picnicker at this time of year. Our human family and our furry friends now reign supreme.

These pictures are of a particularly dog friendly gathering on a glorious fall afternoon in Sunset Park.

Dogs In Transit II

This is Buddy and his human buddy, Hank. Hank has taught Buddy to do all sorts of tricks.

Buddy also knows how to lure little girls from games of Hide and Seek they're playing with their Daddy on the Metro North train. Soon, her younger sister came out to meet Buddy too.

Working Dogs - Park Slope style

Here, below, is her mom, Jen.

Then, there's Dan meeting the very sweet, friendly Mika.

Here's Mika getting ready to help her mom carrying home the groceries. The red vest is actually the equivilant to doggy paniers.

Still, there's always time for a little fun when you're with your mom! Especially when you're getting your picture taken!

Update: I did not know the extent to Mika's fabulousness when I met her and went I subsequently made this post. Thanks to Jen's comment, I now know that Mika has her own blog! Please read more about them at: http://www.mikathemalinois.blogspot.com/ . Beware, they have a tearjerker of an adoption tale.

Hats Off to Stitch Therapy!

This Fall, Stitch Therapy launched a handmade hat donation extravaganza! In return for being taught to knit a hat, I donated the first hat I made (the two-tone green one on your right) to C.H.I.P.S. Men's Homeless Shelter in Brooklyn.

As you can see from the pile in the window, Stitch Therapy's enterprising owner, with a well tuned heart, managed to compile over 100 hats to help cover the cold heads of Winter.

I love this shop!
